Anthropic’s official statement responding to Hegseth’s supply chain risk designation. The company stated it had “not yet received direct communication” from either the Pentagon or the White House regarding the designation, called it “legally unsound,” and declared intent to challenge it in court. The statement noted that under federal law, a supply chain risk designation can only affect use of Claude within Department of War contracts — not how contractors use Claude to serve other customers.
